Gas Boiler Safety and Tips

Now days most of us rely on our gas appliances to help us stay warm during winter, but gas safety is equally very important during the warmer months. Poor boiler and gas appliance maintenance and irregular servicing can increase the chances of gas leaks, carbon monoxide poisoning or fires.

Service your boiler every year:

Ensure that you have all your gas appliances in your home or business serviced or inspected at least once a year by a qualified gas safe registered engineer.

While the engineer is at your home always ask him/her for advice on how to use your heating more efficiently and ask them to carry out a tightness test of you gas installation. The test will determine if you have any gas leaks in the property.

Always use an approved gas engineer

If your sure how and where to find them than visit https://www.gassaferegister.co.uk

All ways as to see the gas safe card identification, the front will confirm their identity photograph, Name, and the expiry date. The rear of the card will tell you what appliances and gas type they are qualified to work on.

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Carbon monoxide CO is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, the poisonous gas produced by incomplete burning of carbon-based fuels, including wood, coal, gas and oil. Carbon- based fuels are very safe to use but it is only when the fuel does not burn properly than the excess CO is produced, this is poisonous. When CO enters the body it prevents the blood from bringing oxygen to cells, tissues and organs. We always advice to have a carbon monoxide alarm at you home or business, ensure the alarm is installed correctly to the manufactures instructions.

Remember

Always ensure your gas appliances have adequate ventilation a fresh supply of air to operate correctly, and do not block air vents inside your house with out having this checked with a gas safe registered engineer
